A 5 layer sintered wire mesh is one of the most popular types. From its name, we can easily know that it consists of 5 layers of woven wire meshes. After sintering them together, we can get a whole panel with a thickness about 1.7mm.

Here is the common structure.

100 + Filter control layer + 100 + 12 x 64 + 64 x 12

  • The first layer is usually 100 mesh plain square weave mesh, which will give enough protection to the second fine wire mesh.
  • According to the expected filtration rating, we can choose suitable fine metal mesh as the filter control layer.
  • The third layer is normally the same as the first one, but often works as a drainage layer.
  • The fourth and fifth reinforced layers are generally 12×64 dutch woven wire mesh, but with 90 degree variation.
